Privacy and statistics

Parque del Mar Neighbourhood Association aims to collect only the information needed to understand how this website is used in aggregate.

Anonymous statistics

We use WP Statistics, installed on our own server, to obtain basic counts of page views, daily visitors and device types. The Document Archive and Our Neighbourhood Concerns use separate counters for total opens and daily unique browsers. In aggregate, we distinguish whether the first visit of the day comes from our main website, directly or via another route. Clicks on the menu link are kept as a separate technical count. The data is never sent to external analytics or advertising services.

To estimate unique browsers, each application stores only the most recent date counted in the browser’s local storage and replaces it when the day changes. On the first open of the day, the browser sends only the category main website or other route. It sends neither the referring URL nor a persistent identifier. The second category includes direct visits, bookmarks, external links and browsers that do not provide referrer information. These figures represent browsers, not people.

We do not store the full IP address. To distinguish visits on the same day, the system first truncates the address and combines it with simplified technical information about the browser to produce an irreversible code using a key that changes daily. The code cannot be used to track a person across days, devices or websites. We do not store the full browser string, location, user account or campaign parameters.

We retain statistical information for up to 180 days and use it solely to understand which content is useful and whether the website works properly on mobile phones and computers.
