Cleaning still needed on ADIF’s land
Dear Transport Minister Óscar Puente, you recently responded to our request to clear rubbish and cut back vegetation on ADIF’s land next to Casa Mediterráneo and Parque del Mar. The job was only half done. The very route local residents have relied on for 15 years as their only way into the park was left untouched. Homeless people who pass through and sleep there use it daily as a toilet and rubbish dump, in conditions we should never see in the heart of Alicante. Imagine going to a park every day and having to dodge rubbish, abandoned tracks and sleepers, and human excrement. The smell is nauseating. We know you are working on it, after no one did so before, but please do not take much longer. It breaks my heart to see my fellow residents go through this humiliation just to spend a pleasant moment outdoors and find shelter from Alicante’s relentless heat. We are still waiting for you to announce the long-awaited crossings to Parque del Mar and the removal of the railway designation from ADIF’s land beside Casa Mediterráneo and Parque del Mar. Yours faithfully, the residents of Alicante.
