Alicante City Council’s Property Maintenance Department is failing

Alicante City Council’s Property Maintenance Department is FAILING. We do not know whether it is down to lack of money, poor management, demoralised staff or all three. What is clear is that it is FAILING. We have waited months for a small private plot next to Calle Federico Mayo to be cleared because weeds block pedestrians. For years we have also raised the unfenced council plot on Calle Banda de Música Los Claveles, with sheer drops of more than 5 metres, and the shameful case of the ruined homes next to the Guardia Civil building on Avenida de Elche, reported repeatedly over the years and a serious danger to passers-by. We have referred the matter to the Síndic de Greuges for a second time because of the department’s complete lack of diligence. This department is clearly FAILING, and the politicians responsible ought to know it. A walk around this long-neglected part of the city would be enough. Let us see whether they have the decency to get moving.
