Public transport and other services are generally poor across Alicante’s southern approach. This is despite the area’s densely populated neighbourhoods, such as Gran Vía Sur and San Gabriel, and nearby facilities and institutions such as Alicante–Elche Airport, the EUIPO and the Ciudad de la Luz complex.
Other parts of the city, such as San Juan beach, have a dense network of city buses and trams. The contrast is striking: in this part of the city, public transport is poor or absent altogether.
During the recent consultation on the Municipal Public Transport Plan, ahead of the tender for the new contract, we submitted representations to improve services across the area our association covers. Some parts currently have no public transport at all.
